However, this article did mention a plan to move North Geelong yard out to Waurn Ponds, this is not the first time I have heard this rumour.
Anybody know if there is any fact to this rumour/plan ?
Surely services will still be stabled in the city area still and those sidings still be used?Of a morning there are only two up trains originating at Geelong, and in the afternoon there are only three down trains terminating there (as well as one in the middle of the day, and the last one on Saturday night). The only reason they do this is because there is no path for them to go any further on the single line. FI you put more stabling on the other side you can ran more trains though there, and cut down on the dead running as well. If you pick the right time, there are trains running 5 minutes behind each other on the single line.
Looks like it would be sometime off
V/line just spent a lot of money putting in a new fuel point at Geelong Loco. Or is it short sighted planing again!
Q: How do you know when your station is going to be closed?
A: They paint it.
