Yep! That's just what I meant. No new dedicated wagons would need to be built.

I'd say that you are correct. Both photos were taken near the former Sandhill Rd level crossing on the down side of Stratford.

It must be time for a hint. The level crossing in the background is the Princes Hwy. That should narrow it down a lot.

Hairy and I have been rather busy this weekend, separately at the Morwell Model Railway Exhibition. So I'll answer on his behalf that it's not Arcadia. Let's just say that the location's not exactly a ...

Okay. So to allay any confusion that may now have occurred to others. Hairy's photo (that I posted on his behalf) and mine above are both the same location. Where is it?

Posted 06 Jun 2019 22:47 in Victoria by B 67

I guess I can't really answer this one as I've a pretty good idea of the location myself. So I'll just reply with my own photo that I believe to be taken in the same place. Smile  Hairy can say yes or no ...

Is this what you wanted?

Hairy's photo that he couldn't get to display properly. Smile

I'm slightly out, next crossing along still facing east, if Darren turned around 180 degrees, he would have a log train behind him, around Bodsworth Road Railway crossing area.

I was going to post "Bairnsdale" but I can't match the precision of Hairy's answer!
Valvegear
Hairy's precision is out a bit though. But it is Bairnsdale.

So; a line that was u/s and is now used, eh?

I'll take a stab at Tatura.

Valvegear

Not Tatura either. You can travel over these rails on a V/Line ticket.

Thanks for having a tentative go. But not Healesville. Trains actually run along this line daily. Although admittedly, that wasn't the case when I took the photo. Very Happy

Okay then. As it's still quiet. I'll say it's nowhere on the South Gippsland Line. Trains actually run on this line today.

Posted 01 Jun 2019 00:00 in Victoria by B 67

I think that "Somewhere on the South Gippy rail line" may be considered too broad an answer. We could knock it down very quickly if we go line by line. Laughing

I'll have a go then. Not having been here for a looooong time. Smile
Where might this be?

Posted 21 Sep 2018 12:11 in Victoria by B 67

My optimistic assumption is that one day, there will be an express train from Bairnsdale to Flinders St, that only stops at 2 stations, obviously skipping Stratford.

[quote=tom9876543]2) There is a 65km/h curve on other side of Stratford station.

This is a stupid argument.

Aren't people aware the RRL eased curves on the Ballarat line (eg. around Bacchus Marsh).

I'm just curious as to where that photo was found. I took it around 15 years ago. Webb Dock line crossing Wharf Rd at Todd Rd. I guess I posted it here (or somewhere) at the time.

Well, it's certainly not how I"d have gone about it. But I guess it was still preferable to using an axe and sledgehammer.

8BA threads are what you're looking for. I just put a pair of 8BA nuts on a Hornby Dublo power feed track that was also missing the originals. They're a bit on the fiddly size, being so tiny, so I'd s ...
