LXRP has announced that Talbot Crescent has reopened to through traffic. This reconnects the road to Toorak Rd, which had the level crossing removed earlier in April this year.

We have to keep in mind that the Stony Point line is ~30km long. The Frankston to Baxter section is only 8km.

High Capacity Signalling trials are meant to be happening between Epping and South Morang in June and July.

Maybe they have retro-fitted an EMU to conduct the trials and this is what you saw?
