OK, I'll attempt to answer my own question.
I have found that the line to Nowa Nowa was closed in 1987. From where I know not.
Passenger services ceased to Orbost in 1935.

I was driving through to Sale and didn't stop but I would suggest that you couldn't cross it on foot.

The Long Trestle bridge into Orbost is still standing but pretty poor condition. I drove through there and Bruthen about six weeks ago. There was a trestle bridge at Bruthen in a similar state.
