No trains, but a bit of maintenance on the line. BSM caught this hi-rail tipper going past her house at Heywood on Saturday.


Point of order - All rail through Dartmoor was lifted earlier this year.

Unfortunately, cosmetic maintenance doesn't seem to be high on any operators list. A lot of visiting locos have faded or flaking paint and rust spots breaking through.

A bit sad.

And Ballarat is the answer.

It's actually double head rail in the carriage shed. The UK moved from double head to bull head in the late 1800s but Victoria went to the flat base rail.

Not Yarrawonga. As far as I’m aware, this type of infrastructure is only in three places in Victoria now. One site wasn’t the original location.
