Might have a progress report by next monday, but I had my first "regular" work session last night.  Three turned up and progress has been made.

As the third wednesday of every month will be a work bee, it is a good time to ask to come over, and at least see the layout.

Hey David, Think the progress on your layout has been slow, try mine. I've been waiting one year now for the baseboard to unwarp. parents didn't think my baseboard needed a frame underneath, put it on a table that was long enough, but only halve the width and my predictions were right, it warped Rolling EyesEvil or Very Mad . Also my dad doesn't like my plans for scratchbuilding, kitbashing, weathering, repainting etc. he said he didn't want to se me 'waste' money on a modelling lathe, and projects that are never finished. Yeah, I was a bit offended, as to me DavidB's is progressing ten times faster than mine, yours is going ahead at least 100 times faster.

in that update, you know where the single curved track is, is that going to have barriers so the locos dont fall down and brake

What you see is truly a skelaton. The facia has to go on, and scenery added to make it look good. It is a reaosn I'm not running trains, to much damage if they fall off. And Yes lone loco has taken a dive, and on the only part over tiles. Needless to say the loco ( an 80 class) turned into a kit instantly, and is still running around after rebuilt ! Several wagons have gone over as well, but I have basic  wagons, unloved for  test use...

Photo below shows the battered 80 class on the left next to one with it's body intact. The Body of the fallen one is OK ,just not attached for now....

Been a while but in this update I do mention far more spline going in.

http://www2.nmit.vic.edu.au/~david/trainroom/updates/up16may08.htm

This time around I bought a electric planer that made quick work on levellign the splines. Next was the use of masking tape to hold the track in caulk. Both methods helped greatly,

I'm afraid  you will be waiting alot more.... You can come this Wednesday for a sneek  peel at my 3rd wed of the month working bee.....which came about because another modeller does not want to wait  too long before operating it either !!!

"can't wait to see what the scenery's like whenever that happens..."

Neither can I, it ill be similar to Murranbilla and our old club layout
http://www2.nmit.vic.edu.au/~emrc2

- I'm really looking forward to the scenery, but have to get the trackwork done, most of the lineside wiring in, the lighting in for the lowerlevel, then I can finally get  to the good bit Smile

Or the few photos on my website:

More progress has been done this week to my layout. Four friends turned
up to work on the layout, visitors are welcome !

I have been busy (as usual) on other projects as well, so the layout
as usual suffers. But progress is all positive !

that looks one hell of a complicated way to control everything
coming along well tho
in comparison to bought points how do home made price up?
  dthead Site Admin

Location: Melbourne, Australia
No 6-8 point in Peco, at least $25-$30 - mine, say $6 at most.

It is comming alon slowly, and like the baseboard and trackwork, the control syste will also start small........

I seen pics of Murranbilla David in Motive Power and I reckon the perway looks great but what did you use for the dirt sand no ballast effect?
  dthead Site Admin

Location: Melbourne, Australia
On Murranbilla we used avariaty of ballasts. Some Chucks was used. BAsicall colours were blended in fo rhte effect desired, ie the newer ballast off puts the yard etc. Where there is no ballast - literally that is the case (will need to be touched up I think)

Real sand was used in a few locations, especiall int he dry river bed area.

Just hope my layout will lok just as good, out lcub layout is my benchmark !

Did your session on the 17th december go well? I'm looking forward to more progress photos.

Was a small one, as I have not got alot prepared for that session. Which is the same case this montha since I have only just got back, and the weekend is down at Philip Island showing of EMRC's model layout. That prevents me getting any ply etc. which would keep things going.

Oh and a blocked toilet may need funds taken off the model railway for a more important calling.....  Embarassed

Regards,
David Head
ps if you put $1 a month away, your airfare, motel and food costs would be more than paid for to vist the working layout....... Wink
