Ok the delayed departure was a result of problems with NR52 which could not be solved, so the Ghan departed with NR46 powering and proceeded to Islington, where loco where detacted and then proceeded to Dry Creek and onto the Port Flat branch, then reversed back towards Dry Creek (effectively turning the locos) then ran back to the consist and re-attached.
So the motive power became NR46 NR52, eventually departing passing under the Port Wakefield Road overpass at 13:55pm.
PN had no spare (suitable) locos available to replace NR52!
