Gawler Signal Cabin in SA has destroyed by fire.
The fire which started sometime this afternoon has flatened the historic cabin 40km North of Adelaide, 3 years and 2 weeks after the restored cabin at Belair Station was destroyed by fire.
The pity is that the community group, lions club of Gawler, who looked after the station and just finished restoration of the roof on the main building and were planning to restore the cabin...

This leaves only one cabin in the metropolitan area (Wye Cabin)
the loss of the Belair Cabin was a great loss and to lose another is a sad waste of railway history

Well we still have some stone Signal Boxes left, But still what waste i got to gawler only to see a truck full ash and metal.  Evil or Very Mad. The only woodern cabin now is at balhanna and a slight gust of wind will proberly blow that away or collapse under its own weight. At least the Belair Cabin will be back somtime soon  Smile .
