No rail, sleepers or points still in location in Derwent Park yard.  Just graded gravel where former loop and start of Risdon line was.  A couple of collections of rail stacked in the yard.  Risdon line lifted from Derwent Pk for 80 meters or so, but first set of points on Risdon line still intact.

Beyond, rail and sleepers intact for 250 m plus to and across Sunderland St then continuing another 300 m or so to within 40 m of Gormanston Rd.  On half of the 300 m nearest Der Pk the whole rail, sleepers and remnants of ballast fully visible but other half is covered in soil to rail tops from all the 'waterworks' being done in the area.

From short of Gormanston Rd to the Brooker Ave rail bridge, track has been fully lifted for some time (5 years??) and formation is almost unrecognizable due to the 'waterworks'.
Track remains across the bridge and beyond. Haven't checked further for a while but is likely still in place to approx the Derwent Pk Rd overbridge near the fertilizer plant at Risdon.

Cheers,

DPJ

Any idea of the number of locos or wagons involved?  Nothing on the Tasrail site yet.

Issues with 2134?

Noticed a point indicator stand at South Burnie, not sure how old this is.

2134 has been sitting in Devonport for days now...
I wonder what the problem was.

What is a 'points indicator'?

Yesterday while driving down the Mud Walls Road before passing over the level crossing above Colebrook the distant level crossing warning lights were flashing (the twin lights with a yellow board) but the red lights on the level crossing were not. What was going on here and what does this mean to the motorist??   There was a bloke sitting in a vehicle near the track but I don't recall seeing any Tasrail markings on it.
The Ballast Cleaner was at Campania along with concrete sleepers and rail.

I thought I heard somewhere they had all been switched off.  Maybe testing before bringing them back on?

I've seen similar ones here in Melbourne that come on in advance of the traffic lights they connect to, but only by a couple of seconds.

Actually its Back Tea Tree Road. I have noticed the advanced indicators and road beacons operating for probably near a month or more.

Oh OK, I don't spend a lot of time loitering around in the Tea Tree area..

I do a lot of Km's around Tassie and its the first time I have been in the right place at the right time to see the Tea Tree crossing operating.

Noted 15 locos on my way home from work Sunday morning!

2052+2053+2054 on 731 at Boyer along with the ubiquitous 2123;
2002+2101+2137+2021 between Tea Tree and Berriedale on 735
and 2132+2011, 2007+2138, 2133+2100 & 2122+2128 all gathered at the Brighton Hub 'One Spot'

For me thats a modern day record, however there is a report of 19 locos being present between Hobart, Boyer & the Hub on Good Friday.
