Time to dig up an old thread... everything has been fairly standard of late so not much use for this one!

Anyway, Quad DQ's on 31 today

Followed from Westbury to Western Junction.  Funny how its been clear skies and sunny weather right up until the day I decide to take photos...

Gee i haven't seen a quin DQ train for a while. I wonder why the "standard" D/ZP/ZR loco wasn't on the paper train.

The impression I got via sms that lured me down to Exton to start the chase was that they were... but this photo: http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=137885 - is that only three of the four were powering.

Sound was brilliant.

Ok i didn't get a pic, well it would be a waste of time anyway, but this morning around 10ish in the servicing shed ZP2100-D loco was getting a service for the paper train. I suppose the third loco would be added at WJ?
Also something a little different is Z2113-ZA2116-ZA2114-Z2110 for tonights train 35. Lately they have been 3 Zs and 1 ZA.

Common practise is to add the extra locomotive at Devonport off 36 or at Western Junction as you suggested.

I think the second ZA, 2116, was shutdown.

English Electrics are back on the paper train, but this time it is a 4 x Z combo, 2111 making its return to the mainline after a year or so on the sidelines...

Unfortunately the heavy fog around Perth/Longford snavelled up any opportunity we had to take photos in decent light.

Damien might have some more.

Damn was it foggy and damn cold!. Typical tassie weather at its best.
Was a great road trip too Jeff, Thanks for it. Oh and didn't 2113-2110 sound great hauling the train.
Anyway...

Pity the locos wasn't in numerical order though. Oh and only the first 2 locos was powering, the other 2 were dead attach

Z2112 has been removed from the consist.

Followed the train south from Conara Junction to Tea Tree last night, low light for a air bit of it courtesy of some large clouds, but this seems to be the norm for me these days.

Well well haven't seen this combo for a while. I was wondering where the "bananas" was. Well Jeff and I found out today.

2100 had a problem with either smoke/steam or coolent leaking out and spraying out something at the radiator fan.

Also haven't seen these beautys for a while!!

The plates are in amazing condition for there age. Although the green backing plate, some are in shocking condition

Mod note. Can we get the title changed to Sightings?

I went out to Western Junction this morning - noted that all the wagons have been removed except for ZP2 (Ballast Plough).

With the gallery currently MIA, this is the best I could do at putting a photo online: http://www.fotolog.com/rails/?pid=13710266

Saw the cement train this morning... arriving at East Tamar Junction  8)

I guess they wanted to perform some more thorough maintenance than is available at Burnie.

The cement train has been sitting in the Devonport yard for the last 3 days and not running.  I have also noticed that it has only been running with 13 hoppers instead of the usual 15 of late.

Perhaps the wagons need a service, something that Burnie doesn't do.
Oh and Jeff mate, great pics. Wink

As far as I know it is.  They usually have their shutdown for maintainance in November.  The coal train is still bringing its load through so they must still be burning coal at the plant.  The Goliath last left Devonport with a load of cement about 5 days ago.  It is unusual for it not to be back yet so maybe it is off the run for maintainance.

Unfortunately work is taking me in the Burnie direction today so I won't be able to sneak out to Railton and have a look see for you.

Well haven't seen 2101 for a while, nice surprise this morning at 9 am.
[gallery=http://gallery.railpage.com.au/modules.php?set_albumName=album1952&id=ZR2101_MKA2137&name=gallery&include=view_photo.php]
Looks like MKA2137 is acting like its little brother the ZC class, to me i think the turbo is gone on the drivers side, thats the one with a lot of blue smoke.

Last pic, the lonely signal pole near the crossing. I don't know what it was used for, the entrance into South Burnie to protect the rail crossing or the old  Pioneer cement siding.

That first pic is very good... well done!

Also, I am yet to see an all PN combination with members of 2 different classes... so a nice catch!

When did they leave again do you know?

Tonight about 5 ish. I haven't heard a horn yet, s they might be still here in Burnie. On Monday the combo was a DQ with a MKA. Hopefully tomorrow morning i see them again.
