Tailem Bend grain trains are BACK!!!
After just over 2 months without any to said location, today FQ02-ALF20-ALF19-2212-GM38-FQ04 hauled 50 hoppers bound for Tailem.
Good to see GWA are finally running the longer trains on the south line now two.
Really they should be using 3 or 4 of their high horse power locos with 60 or 70 hoppers to get better economies of scale and less breakdowns, but at least an increase from 40 to 50 hoppers is a 25% efficiency increase.
They could do that, but that wouldn't be good for us enthusiasts, we love the old stuff powering up the hills. Plus most of the locos that are around the 4,000hp mark are needed on the Adelaide-Darwin route (intermodal & iron ore) anyway.
Aurizon Rail Grinder MMYV-034 (?) stabled at Keswick loop today
Healthy amount of boxes. Can I ask where the track curving out to the left of the train as it approaches goes?Follow the track going of to the left and you'll end up in Perth.
