This is a sort of guess where it is type photo but it is also a photo from an on-going railway archaeology project I am working on.

At the top of the photo the line runs over another via a small bridge.

Found this the other day. Lockyer Creek, Brisbane Valley line. (I might recreate it in 7 1/4" to cross the creek in my backyard)

While going through my old photo's looking for a "where is it" pic, I came across this one. Whilst not being archaeology it is in a similar vein. Any person who remembers these individuals will know of the special significance of this pic. If there is an appropriate location for posting it, please advise.

Interesting, looking at this network on Nearmap, but how long will It last before new houses swamp the land ?

Some fantastic pics.  Love the Marree one, 18A.  And the Rubicon ones.  So sad.  I walked across that bridge once!

That Bourke shot is fantastic. It could go on my wall, dmb.

Regarding the Gravesend lens; what brand was it, please?  Very Happy

Just answering my own question, I suspected that it was a Canon "L" & so it seems. (Canikon users rarely state the brand as everyone is supposed know what they are.)

Anyway, I'm a Pentaxion influenced by no such reticense or affectation ;   Razz .

There is, however, on the market, a  http://www.lenstip.com/166.2-Lens_review-Samyang_85_mm_f_1.4_Aspherical_IF__Pictures_and_parameters.html

bringing far better reviews even to this one, above. Value for money can't be argued.

But it would seem that at 1.2 there is still a considerable amount of depth of field.

That Asquith bridge has had many published photos over the years, and is a great favourite with ghost rail explorers. These are marvellous pxs, congrats here. I recall a C Class (green livery) travelling over here in some distant moment.

I didn't take this one, a contributor to Ozroads did. But it's within easy reach at the moment and sums it up perfectly Very Happy The Bombala Branch (mothballed 1986) and the old Monaro Highway (bypassed 1968) running side-by-side about 5km south of Nimmitabel.

That would be in the general neighbourhood of Maclaughlin. This is my fave pic from around those parts, of the rail bridge over the old highway about 1km Up from the old Maclaughlin meatworks:

I took these a few weeks ago.
They are between Burrandana and Westby NSW. This would have been on the The Rock to Westby Line. The Smaller one in closer to Burrandana Tennis courts and Bourkes Creek.

My Grandfather drove on the westby and Tumbarumba lines. but I haven't been able to get any photos off the other family members.

I Also added a pic of the Whyma Ferry across the upper Hume Dam.
