Looks like Burwood Hwy in the background. I'm going to say somewhere west of Upwey.

Yes it is.
The X'Trap a little bit closer to Upper Ferntree Gully station.
I think I was in Mary Street when I took the photo - about 800 metres away.

This one shouldn't be too hard. What station is this?

Yes.
The train was stabled just beyond the station.
I think I took the photo in St Andrews Drive Chirnside Park - almost two kilometres away.

Based on very little knowledge, I'd take a stab at Lilydale.

Location:
It's not Lilydale.

Malvern ?

Well done AL, Malvern will do - it's actually closer to Caulfield station, but between the two (roughly where Balaclava Road meets).

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it looks like that difficult photo by retromelb is no longer available.
Thanks Photobucket.Smile
It must be open floor now.
Does anyone know where this Comeng train is?

Laverton's grown hilly and green since I was last there.

I don't know what happened to my last photo or why retromelb's last photo has reappeared, but to get this thread moving again maybe we should try another photo.
Does anyone know where this X'Trapolis train is?

Following the edit I can see the image in the external link.

I want to say it's between Middle Gorge and South Morang on the Mernda extension but the hills in the background don't look quite the same... could be the perspective/resolution.

Great spot and photo though wherever it is.

Location:
You're right LeroyW,  the X'trapolis is passing over the Yan Yean pipeline.
The photo was take from Granite Hills park almost 3 kilometres away.
The buildings on the horizon to the left are the towers at Box Hill.
The Telstra Tower and Melbourne Water Reservior at the top of Canterbury Road are on the horizon behind the X'Trapolis.
