Hello everyone,

I just wanted to announce that I have a route on the way "Clyde To Carlingford" Very Happy It's half done already about 55% completed and it only took me 2 hours to build nothing special I won't be uploading this route at all unless it is requested but the only problem I have to use platforms from the original routes and bridges, roads etc. Before doing so...

Phil,

I would have thought that if you have the skills to build a 3D train with a pantograph then knocking up a couple of platforms and bridges shouldn’t be to much of a problem for you...

I have made the majority of the 3D objects for my route. That way I don’t have to rely on anyone else for permissions and I can customise the models as required to suit my route...

Thanks for the hint superheatedsteam I was going to build the objects for my route but I was thinking how can I do these measurements for the platforms, bridges etc. I have thought of a way to build these and I am going to use Google Earth's ruler and measure these objects in sections would this work or not?

Google earth has worked for me. Using the ruler is one way of measuring. You can also use other objects that you know the dimensions for and use them as a scale.

As an example, I had to build a locomotive shed but did not know how big it was.  In the google image there was a loco nearby that I could recognise the type and I knew it was just over 20 metres long. By measuring how many locos the shed was long and wide I could roughly workout the length and width of the building. Not highly accurate but close enough for what I wanted it for.

So by using objects close by that you know the dimensions for you can get a rough idea of how long or wide a real world object is.

Hi guy's,

I just wanted to ask if anyone would like to be a tester for my route Clyde To Carlingford? I have done completed the line and added stations only but I haven't added the bridges, roads etc... And I have packaged my route using route riter's "compress with uharc" tool... I would prefer a route builder to test my route as my route is only announced "unreleased" at this stage.... If anyone would like this chance feel free to PM me...

Phil, your route's like 10% finished. Why are you calling for testers so early on?

Hi ARG706,

I'm sorry about the late reply mate I just been busy working out how to build Cityrail's Cset & Kset's... Anyway the reason why I am calling for route testers early it's because I don't know the real life line and I'm not sure if it is correct or not all the track is layed and the stations, and station markers are in but the rest isn't done at this stage not until I work out the terrain that's going to be hard for me but I will get there... If you would like picture of my routes map from route editor feel free to ask and I will email it to you or anyone who wishes to test out my route... I would prefer a route builder to test this if they are willing and not that much busy if possiable... If I cannot find a route tester I see if Mike Simpson "creator of the Blue Mountains route" would like to test it for me and afew other great route builders...

Hi everyone,

I just wanted to say thank you to all the great people that have replied to my thread. I am sorry to say but I am going to accept beta testers at this stage as I believe that I am rushing into things and the other guy's that have posted here are right that I should do everthing first and then ask for beta testers... Sorry about this disapointment but don't panic because all I have to do is the roads, terrain, buildings... All the track is fully done, except for some parts witch I won't be adding only because I still haven't worked it out with track laying but if I do happen to put them in it would be even better...

Phil,
1. Lay all your track  !!!!
2. Test all your track  !!!!
It is Not the beta tester's responsibility to obtain gradient and curvature chart to check that you have laid your track correctly. You have a plethora of tools available today to get it right.
3. Then  lay all roads.
4. Then go over all terrain and bed everything down. Do not start putting scenery in until this is done or you will have to go over the scenery repeatedly after you have made changes to terrain and that is a real pain.
5. Then add scenery items and ensure that every item is bedded correctly.
6. Then add "interactives" such as Sidings, Platforms, Fuel points and finally car spawning and signals.
7. Thoroughly test all signalling in every direction.

Then look for beta testers after you have gone over the route looking for anything that you may have missed.
Cheers

Hi guys,

In regards to this route, I have some sad news. I am not going to continue building the Clyde to Carlingford route as I have my heart set on my North Coast route and all my time has been taken up as I am looking at 12 to 24 months of work or more. Please feel free to model the Clyde to Carlingford route, if you wish Smile

Cheers,
Best Regards, Phil

This wouldn't have something to do with my PM last night would it? It's basically exactly the same.

Hello Zac,

As I was explaining to you by email before, the route is completely dead and I have no intention of re-building it because I have far too many projects to finish and even when I do finish all my projects I wont be coming back to this route

However, I thank you once again for your very kind offer mate and I very much appreciate it
