Mel Deputy Commissioner

Maybe this

#outer{
width:100%;
text-align: center;
}

Should be this

#outer{
width:100%;
}

And

#content{
width:510px;
background-color:#fcfcf3;
margin-left:auto;
margin-right:auto;
padding-bottom:5px;
text-align: center;
}

should be

#content{
width:510px;
background-color:#fcfcf3;
margin-left: 0px;
padding-bottom:5px;
text-align: center;
}

If any text is not centering then redeclare it for that container only, not the whole page.

Object is an object  Very Happy

margin-left:auto;
Reads as margin: 0 auto  The auto has a null value even if you fail to declare it.
This will center your page within the container.
If you added a div under body and called it wrapper giving it

#wrapper div {width 100%}

and then an extra div declaring it as

#wrapper div div {margin: 0 auto; }
The entire page would center in the browser

0 = a NULL value so you do not always have to declare it. But it helps for debugging and errors if you do.

I think you had trouble with the text and had to declare each object style as went. No need - the problem was text center at the start.
The styles cascade or become inherited hence Cascading Style Sheets. They are Object Orientated CSS styles.

I also suspect you did this using WYSIWYG dreamweaver. Don't! Hand code always - its 200 times faster! Dreamweaver will repeat styles over and over making your code incredibly awful to look at and exceptionally hard to debug. I noticed a fair bit of that, no need for it.
Everything flows with the force Luke...

Be lazy when you program and you get fewer errors. KISS  Very Happy

Good design though, 100%  Razz

Ok, here are my pics from the 14/11/09.

J549 with the smoke box in the pit so as the holes can be drilled for the smoke box sadde. Would you believe I had to get into the firebox of this thing to hold a tape measure so as to measure one of the tubes? (BTW, not a very good pic!)

The drivers side of J549. Dad and I removed the automatic staff exhanger so as to make it easier to work on this section. This was taken just before dad cut the section out so it could be replaced with a new piece of metal

J549's blast pipe

K160 with work being done to the steam delivery pipe. This pipe has a hole in it so it needed to be replaced.

Business as usual at Maldon even after the fire ripped through the station building. Special wedding train to Muckleford, J541 being the motive power for this train.

Don't let this picture fool you. Even though the fire ripped through the building, the brickwork is still in very good nick, which is good news.

You may find it hard to believe, but I am able to fit into J515's firebox, and have been in there many times over the years; placing and expanding tubes; removing sections of the grate; inspecting fusible plugs etc. etc.

I am slightly under 6 feet in height, and weigh in at around 115kg. I know about how cramped the conditions are in a J firebox, so I can sympathise to a degree...Wait till you get into the firebox of a D3 or K!

Or a R class smokebox after it had just got back from a trip to assess damaged superheater elements....

Or working in the firebox of J516, cutting out the remains of the support bars for the grate with oxy on a 35 degree humid evening. I have never sweated so much before, and don't really want to do that again.......

I guess I'm a LOT smaller at 65kg! Looks like more trips into the J firebox for me!  Shocked
I had no problems getting in or out...only the problem was coming out is that the top bit of the insulation from the dome was on the floor of the cab and there was the wire netting in it with the sharp ends!!

I must say that it's an impressive sight to see TheRev getting into a J's firebox.  I have also spent time in there, painstakingly tapping threads for new stays, and so on. I have much the same width as TheRev, and it is necessary to picture your self as a tiger snake for the purposes of getting in and out.
As a footnote, the R class firebox is palatial compared to the J.

It's not so bad once you're in there, it's just getting in and out of the hole that's a bit bigger than a cat flap!!

Great stuff. Good to see you all getting on with it. BTW you're all soft. Try getting in a NSW 12 class fire box when you're 6'4". It's only a 14sq' grate, and I don't think we need to bring up NAs or industrials.

It was enough of a struggle for me to get into the 59! Kudos to the rest of you! Smile

I second F_D's statements, that it's great to see VGR getting on with business after the damage the station building. Are there intents on its rebuild?

Speaking of being inside of firebox on steam locomotives, I been in R761 and R766 firebox to clean out the stoker unit. the funny thing about it, you go in there clean and come out black of ace of spades.

As the brickwork is still in good nick, there is every intention of Maldon station being rebuilt.

Played cricket at Maldon today and never heard a whistle all-day. Had a few beers after the match and finally heard a toot given. Got home and the kids told me double headed J's went past. Must have been another chartered train trip.

It seems like they fixed or replaced the blown superheated element on J 515. Before dad and I got there last week, it had blown a superheater a day or so beforehand and they had the rest of them out near it to make sure that another one wasn't about to blow.

I heard lots of whistle blowing and it sounded like 2 engines.  So I looked on the VGR website. but there was nothing in the regular schedule page. A friend who also lives near the line told me recently that there is some elderly woman near her, that hates the steam whistle with a passion, always grumbling about the "bloody train" lol.

While at Maldon today I noted the following:

-K160 undergoing work (as already described by Serviceton_Kev
-Generator in use to supply power to the workshops.
-The OT tank wagon used to re-fuel J541 has been moved to the loco compound, along with the oil pump used. Presumably this is so the generator can be used to power the pump.
-A portable building from Puffing Billy is currently being used as a station. It is located near the dock platform.
-J541 is currently operating with J549's tender, for reasons unknown.
