As I understand it to be the S A Government has four additinal Bombardier Flexity Classic Trams on order. Would any one know if that is still a current order or has that since been cancelled with the purchase of the Alstom Citadis Trams ?
Adelaide need to put extra services on with the Entertainment Centre now a main stop. Also for Adelaide United games at Hindmarsh Stadium. They could operate shuttle services from South Terrus to Entertainment Centre or a couple extras doing the full route to/from Glenelg
Well, January gone. It is February 2011. Here we are without 4 new trams. Maybe it will be January 2012... or 2013

Hello Medo,
If you dig around on the Bombardier site you'll find a report about major flooding at their Bautzen factory last year. This put them out of action for a couple of months, but things were pretty much back to normal in October.
A two month delay would hint at deliveries in the next month or so and indeed there is a rumour on another forum that there may be two Flexy's in Melbourne going through the usual pre-delivery processes.
Bill.

That's very interesting. How to shoot your reputation as a reliable transit providor in the foot. What do you think the reason for the 20 min wait was? Sticking to a timetable (only 20 min headways for a tram service, doesn't sound like trams are justified)? Single line track and waiting for the next tram to clear the section? Not providing extra vehicles for an event?
It would never have happened in the old Sydney tram system.
Initial enthusiasm for citing Adelaide as another model new light rail system fades to an embarrassed evasive "um, Adelaide? How do you spell that?"![]()

from recollection on my trip to adelaide that line is not single but double track.
Maybe they don't have enough stock to cover these special events

There is only approximately 35 meters of the single track, located just at the east side of the Morphett St. Bridge. That was kind of compromise for the right turning toward ACC parking building.
Yes, we do not have enough trams, but taking into account a very vocal opposition to them... I am very happy having them at all. New 4 trams (if they come) will be more than welcome addition.

Well! do you have any reliable proof that they are coming, besides bull....
if you have I would love to see it. cheers
Certainly the above photos of North Terrace do not indicate a vehicle traffic situation so critical as to single-track the tramway to get a turning lane in. What a joke.
