It mentions that you will return to Sydney on the XPT. Why not come back on the Heritage Express train led by 3642?

3642 will be staying out in the Central west at the end of the tour to run a series of shuttle trips for the week at Dubbo and Orange.

In my opinion. That's just stupid.. Coming back on a regular everyday train back to Sydney.

Had no plans of coming up for it.

Just defeats the whole purpose of a Steam Trip!

Obviously the RTM is 'damned if it does, and damned if it don't', considering the thread in the NSW Forum and the negative post above. Henry, if it does not pull you whistle cord, than as suggested, stay at home. And give credit were credits due.
It sounds fine, a suggestion to the RTM, maybe sell the 'empty' car movement home as does LVR on most of its exhange movements. Other wise good stuff.

There is Indeed an oppurtinuty for people to ride Steam Loco 3642 for the Last Portion of the Trip on Sunday the 9th September, From either Tarana or Bathurst, Seems Like a very good move by the RTM - I will be thinking about going on this one

It's a fair move by NSWRTM.

A steam trip out to Dubbo, then some local shuttles at Dubbo and Orange on the way home followed by an opportunity to ride from Bathurst/Tarana back to Sydney.

It's a fairly long treck afterall!

Are they going to be any diesels helping out 3642 around Central West, besides assistance in the Blue Mountains?

I looked on the STN provided by Railcorp, and Yes there will be Diesels heading West also , There is a day where the train will do shuttles to Minore, Which will require the diesels to haul 3642 Back to Dubbo

lsrailfan is there any chance you could post the timings of the transfer to Katoomba for 3642?

In particular I'm after times through Valley Heights.

I've been keeping an eye out on the ARTC and JH websites but hadn't seen a TAA/CRN yet, so haven't bothered asking for STN timings as unfortunately I don't have access to STNs.

Is the run to Binnaway still on for the Saturday afternoon ?

If so , what will the departure time from Dubbo be please ?

I've been keeping on eye on ARTC's website under the TAA's for the Central West Steam Safari / Legend Of Steam Western Tour, but so far nothing has been forthcoming in the posting / publishing of the desired TAA, so hard to know timings or what is or isn't running...

Due to the small mishap this morning around St Mary's, are they now going to run 3642 out tonight or will it just run straight from Thirlmere to Katoomba in the morning.
