I think we may see 6004 in service before 6003
I am hearing that 6003 derailed at Preston Workshops and has sustained some damage to it's underside. The report is correct- with the time frame I've herd; there's a signifcant chance 6004 and 6005 will be in service before 6003

I've noticed over the past month or so a few D1 and D2s on Route 86. To the best of my knowledge they were operating as "Not In Service".Nope. Any D class trams heading up that way would most likely be heading up to the Preston Workshops.
With the recent introduction of the E class, will Route 86 be seeing D1s/D2s or any other type (except for the As/Bs) operating revenue services in the near future?
So when will we start to see Es on Route 86?Like I said, when Southbank has a full complement of E class trams, which would probably be between 20 and 25, then the rest will go to East Preston for the 86. Going by current build rates, that is probably about 2-3 years away.
Not really a sighting but, i typed 6001 into tram tracker yesterday at about 1pm, and it showed it as doing a route 75 from Vermont South! Can anyone confirm that or is tram tracker telling fibbs????At about 9pm i typed in 6001 6002 and 6003 in tramtracker and it said It can't be found on the network ????
Every new E class tram that gets delivered to Southbank sends another D2 class to Brunswick Depot for use on route 19. (20 in total I think). All D2s will end up at Brunswick, infact 5001 and 5002 are already there. These trams will most likely replace Z3 class trams which can then go to either Malvern or Glenhuntly to replace older Z1/Z2 trams. Some B2 class trams may also be moved on to Essendon (for use on Route 55 which is urgently needing extra capacity trams).
Nope. Any D class trams heading up that way would most likely be heading up to the Preston Workshops.55 Does not need longer trams just Get the B2 On The route 57

However, after Southbank has a full complement of E class trams (at least 20, maybe a couple more) all remaining E class trams from the initial order of 50 are expected to make their way up to East Preston Depot, primarily for use on route 86, but also most likely the 112 will see a few as well. These will displace A class trams which will most likely head to Glenhuntly and Malvern depots to replace there oldest Z class trams. This however is still a couple of years away going by the current E class build rate.
This will of course mean there will be a space shortage at East Preston depot (as you would know, an E class tram is significantly longer than the A class trams it will replace) so space at Preston Workshops will be earmarked for a new depot to run the route 112 out of.
55 Does not need longer trams just Get the B2 On The route 57Actually, Routes 55 and 48 are regularly listed as the most overcrowded tram routes, so yes more B2s will be deployed on the 55 before there are any rostered on the 57. The 57 also has clearance issues with B2s at alot of the stops around North Melbourne.
