Howdy David and thanks mate but the 49 Class turned into an absolute disaster, Here's one of the final renders before exporting

And here is one after exporting

See the fuel tank and nose of the front hood. This was just a trial skin too to have a better look in game at my mapping and the bogies have to be raised too but just before i exported the model i welded the vertice's and obviously had the setting a smidgeon too high so i think its a total loss at this stage. Probably doesn't look that bad here i suppose but it was devastating too see months of work go down the gurgler because of a silly mistake, Although i do have a earlier save of the model its a lot of work to get it back to this stage David so i'm back onto sum rolling stock till i can learn a bit more about it all mate.

That 49er looks good. Not a criticism, but I'm curious as to your desire to model the NR, given DavidO has had a decent model out for a few years? A desire for a better mousetrap?

KRviator
Thanks KR not too sure what the mousetrap part means but for me just being an avid fan of modern Aussie Railways the NR would have to be one of my most favourite Aussie Loco's, And yes whilst David has and still has a decent model of one i think that's why i'm probably so slow in making my Aussie stuff for the game..lol. I think why should i bother when David and Nat have already made nearly every thing i use in the game and now that Vinnybarb has made the newer SCT Models with a DL Class due out shortly i really wouldn't need to make anything but i'd still like to see how mine looks in the end.
David used Gmax for his models where i'm using 3ds Max and can render my models to texture which isn't available with Gmax so if i do my home work correctly and actually complete it and if a few other trainzers use them and are happy then i'm happy with that.

Fair enough then. You've piqued my interest now, I didn't know the SCT was available. The mousetrap reference was a saying I'd heard many moons ago about building a better mousetrap and the world'll beat a path to your door - or something like that. :p

Sunds unlike much the same reason I made a bunch of NSW signals years ago, but I never got around to uploading them to the DLS.

KR thanks for the explanation i thought it may of been a insiders name for the loco lol. Vinnybarb has a heap of modern Aussie loco's released on the DLS now so just search that username and they should all come up. He is finishing of the DL Class now so that should not be far away either.
Speaking of Signals any chance we could see a pic of your work i made a Tonnage Plate ( I think that's what they are called ) awhile ago for another Aussie Trainzer for his Aussie Route.

Probably a bit hard too see in this pic but its sitting on the signal mast there to the left and i should learn how to attach it to a signal mast for ease of placement as its so small. But yeah the more Aussie Stuff we can see made for the game the better i reckon so i hope you finish your Signals one day.

I did end up finishing most of what I was working on, but never bothered scripting them to work in the newer versions of Trainz, nor did I ever bother to upload them to the DLS. Life got in the way, as it often does. The workings and images below formed the basis to the signal creation guide I wrote a few years ago, though the rest of the tutorial images were lost when Fotopic went belly-up with no notice...And I've never been able to get their recovery thing to work so it looks like they're gone forever.

Testing the tunnel wall mounted 5-aspect auto, while trying to understand why I can't get Trainz to give me a double-yellow aspect on the QR 4-aspect signal. Never did figure that out... P

Wow amazing work KR, Another Aussie Trainzer is working on sum tunnel Catenery and track splines so those tunnel sig's would of came in handy i would imagine. Scripting is not my forte at all as i have enough trouble finding the time and energy to finish the million projects i already have let alone trying to learn scripting. I'll have to see if i can find the guide you wrote though as that could come in handy. Thanks for the pics any way and i hope you can find the time to finish them off one day.

I'll save you the effort of looking. Wink

And after an A'HA moment, I managed to get into Fotopic so I can update the tutorial with the correct images soon...

The load looks more like a load of spuds at the moment but i still have a bit to learn on making them look better along with a few other things that could make the actual wagon look way better, There isnt much in the way of details or measurements for any of the Pilbara stuff and every pic i find shows different details for most of the gear used over there so yeah still a fair way of with this one.
Cheers Mick.Sad
P.S Anyone in the Pilbara Area willing to help me out with sum pics of the soil and rocks in the area i'd be very grateful. I can use the pics if they are big enough to make textures for the Route in game.
Here are a couple of links to show the type of colours i am after http://electromotive.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=1520087 See behind the loco the very red rocks well thats the one's i am after and you can see it a bit more clearer in this pic http://www.flickr.com/photos/jeffrey_grenfell/6914845157/in/set-72157628585770439 The Colour's here are not found on any texture site i'm a member of so if there is anyone out there keen to give me hand i'd be for ever in your debt. I'm grateful for the pic's folk take the time to throw up on the web for me to use for reference and inspiration and you would receive full credit for any thing used or a copy of anything if you play Trainz.

Sum thing a bit different to try instead of a Aussie wagon i went with this which is a Quebec Cartier Ore Gon built in the 60's by Marine Industries but these are still used today in PA in the States hauling scrap steel around.

I had no drawings so had to eye ball it for the most part but compared to pic's i have found on these i think i'm pretty close.

Not sure if these type are used in the Hunter Valley where i'm more interested in and this is the only pic i could scrummage off the Net so i think it's mainly used in the Sydney area and i know Deadly has one of these on the DLS but i thought i'd make one anyways.

I'm fairly sure they were used in the Hunter Valley - not at the smaller station, they only had the Authority to Travel machines (the type that had ten destinations and a generic "buy your ticket at your destination" option). I'm fairly sure that at least Newcastle and Maitland would have had one of the machines pictured above, but I can't confirm that.

Thanks Trent i was supposed to be getting sum other pic's of the infrastructure up that way mate but i am impatient and thought i'd go ahead and try for myself, Now i need to find out what these other machines you mention look like lol.

Well i have worked on the 48 Class a bit more lately and the Fan took a whole day to make and probably is too detailed but i like it so far.

I think i'll actually try to model the doors and handles as i suck at making them in CS.

Had a bit more of a muck around with the hopper today and this is only with one layer added to break up the base colour but so far i'm kind of happy with how it is looking.

Brick Junction Box ? not even sure if that is the correct name for these but i found one in Google Earth at the end of Shamrock St Hexham. I think there is also a sign or two on the front of these maybe so i'll have to try and get up that way for sum better pic's of sum signs and other infrastructure.
