RP3.7 Bugs and Feedback

  duttonbay Minister for Railways

Using the mobile version on an android tablet, with the default browser, today it has begun to open a new tab for every RP icon or link clicked. If I click on the "show first unread" icon it opens a new tab, with nothing in it, and then displays the thread in another tab. So, at the moment I have Railpage,Forums/Railpage, New Posts/Forums/Ra..., Loading..., and RP3.7 Bugs and Feedback in tabs.

Yesterday all of these "clicks" opened in the current tab.

Bizarre.  Since adding my post to this thread, everything has suddenly reverted to normal behaviour.

... and now it's started happening again.  Let's call it an intermittent problem.

Has there been any updates to RP over the last 24 hours?

Just discovered this behaviour is happening with other web sites - but again it has only started today. So, not a problem with RP. I just need to find out why it's happening at all now...

Have just had a look in the Preservation and Tourist section, And the most Recent folders do not appear where they are meant to be, If this makes sense

Kind Regards

Ummmmmmmmm , , help, the most recent posts in any thread are dated 2008 and no later.

I think the "Back to the Future" karma has bitten me on the smeg .............

As I look at the main forums page right now, almost every thread has wanderer53 listed as the last poster....when in fact he hasn't.

And, every multi page thread opens at page 1, not the most recent.

Weird.

Not sure what's up with the forums at the moment, but every sub-forum I go to looks like this. Old topics have been dug up by the same user who has posted into each and every one, seemingly so. But clicking into each thread and everything returns to normal ? Surely this is just a fleeting occurrence, I for one have never seen this until now.

Edit: mikesyd has beat me to it

Yeah, my bad. I thought I was working on the testing database.

Edit - fixed, hopefully. Please send me a PM if anyone notices any lingering odd thread dates.

I'm not sure whether this is a bug with Railpage or just my browser but this post seems a little screwed.

Just realised there's a new page - Also just realised in the footer it says something about outage pages and donating... Out of place?

Michael, when adding a sighting from the stawell camera (take this image as an example) http://www.railpage.com.au/railcams/stawell/photo/9609243195 there is an error. I can search the locomotive G528 in this case and add to sightings.

then we look at the tags

I now look into the sightings database and the locomotive sighting has not been added.

The insert an image tool will not work for me apart from photobucket images. Having difficulty including an image in my recent post in  Home » Forum Index » Queensland » South Coast Line steam era Southport Tweed Heads. I have posted the image url in the problem post so folks can click to view if interested.

Graham4405 came to my rescue and explained it does not work as the image link needs a .jpg extension

I have now decided to just supply the image URL which interested folk can use as it leads directly to the image anyway. Thanks Graham!!

Take a chill pill. There are network issues at the datacentre our servers are located in. It will be resolved in due course.

This issues actually look to be around DNS resolution. I am still working through this and are about to change DNS resolvers on the Sydney cluster.

I was thinking it may be a DNS issue... It's unlikely it's the server itself - I'm sure someone would have had the presence of mind to check it first.

Still  very slow I notice - at times, the Internet times out trying to find the site & open threads - any idea when it will be rectified?
