This is not Russia and we are not a police state.
Go and get your photos and just be careful in doing so. Make sure you post them here.

There's a right way and a wrong way to do something. Asking if it can be accessed, being told it's illegal, and then planning to do it anyway shows a knowledge and complete disregard for the law. Why not ask if it's okay to exceed the speed limit by 50km/h? We're not Russia, we're not a police state, so that should be
fine, right?
What, you mean it's NOT? Because it carries an inherent risk of injury or death? It's the same with
accessing the railway corridor without permission or qualifications to be there.
If you're so sure it is public land, just inform Victrack and the local police station of your visit and watch them stand by and let you.
