On Thursday 28 June, I was in Port Augusta.
Not much was happening, but a Balco container train (4441) showed up on 4Trak on the Leigh Creek line.
It had the usual pair of locos GL107 and GL111.
It was stopped just north of a property called "Mundallio", near a level crossing on the line.
I decided to have a look at the train and drove up there.
There was a very large solar farm under construction (which I hadn't heard of before) using solar cells as used in roof systems, not like the solar thermal system south of Port Augusta.
When I got there, the train was loading empty containers that had been used to ship the solar cells and supporting equipment.
A large container lift vehicle was in use.
Several of the containers (presumably just unloaded) appeared to be diesel generator sets in 40 feet containers.
Clearly there is no continuing use for the rail line, but since only a dirt road links the station to Port Augusta, it was very useful for construction...
