We of the Never Never Filming

I'm curious how the railway scenes in We of the Never Never were filmed.

Was part of the NAR reopened for the filming and where did they get the carriage from? Was it filmed at Pine Creek?

I have read that locor NF5 was supposed to be used but there seems be a headlamp in the film. Was the locomotive restored just before hand?

Also can NF5 still run?

For the filming, NF5 was pushed by an out-of-camera tractor, with some oily rags for smoke. The locomotive was subsequently restored to operation with Commonwealth/Territory funding but only ran a few times because of local politics associated with the National Trust. Pity - it was originally one of the two SAR W class locomotives in service on the Port Lincoln line when it first opened. In my humble opinion it would be much better relocated to Quorn where it would be used in a location which once saw W class locomotives. The accompanying side-saddler carriage would also be an asset to Quorn to complement their existing similar carriages.
