Yep only Don can counter an argument about US Presidents by talking about Mao, Stalin and Democracy. A supreme master of the art of red herrings and irrelevance.

By the way Don the reason why I think that Obama and Clinton would do better is because they are a lot smarter than that imbecile. Not too hard a conclusion to draw.

Nah Michael, you just don't want to accept the fact that you complaining doesn't alter anything.

And that great mind Hillary Clinton was beaten by an imbecile? Goes to show she must be even dumber than him; and there's lots of evidence that she was. Didn't even bother to campaign in the states that turned against the Demmy-crats.

Stoopid old Hillie - thought that she was a shoo-in.

But Don, I worry about you; putting yourself through all this boring and repetitive stuff, and you're doing it just for us! That is such a noble gesture.

Like YOU aren't opinionated! Ho, ho!

I'm going to push the limits here after my third glass of sav blanc (what the hell, it's Saturday night and I'm having fun with all my old friends on Railpage today!) and say that today marks officially ONE YEAR since the death of Labor Party demigod Bob Hawke and therefore the period of respectful mourning is over.

Here he is doing what he did best; leering over women:

He spruiked for nuclear waste storage in Australia for many years and also was one of the first lobbyists for the CCP in Australia.

It's been a year now - I think that's fair comment. The Labor Party needs to repudiate that era, not venerate the leadership that sold them out to Thatcherism under the guise of a "labour" party; they've long since forgotten about trying to protect the working class in Australia.

Those injecting disinfectant claims were blown way out of proportion when I actually viewed what he said - I was expecting him to say something along the lines of "directly inject Dettol into your veins" but instead he was chatting with researchers at a briefing about the possibility of irradiating blood somehow (which is not the same thing). He immediately qualified what he was saying by deferring to the scientists and admitting he didn't fully understand the treatment concepts yet - so what's the matter with that?

As usual the Trump hysteria got in the way of the actual story. It doesn't make people like me who are already cynical of the Trump haters any more convinced when they twist his words like he often accuses them of doing. Does it.

Michael, thanks for such a quick blathering tirade - it'll be easy to shoot down all of your weak arguments.

I hope for your sake Biden doesn't win.

I love it when you (and others here) ascribe emotions to me that I don't have. LOL, why would I care who wins? It isn't my country. I really don't care - none of you seem to get that I don't have an emotional stake in who is the President of the United States, but I do get sick of the constant belly-aching and facile whinging about someone on the other side of the planet that none of us voted for. You people are pathetic sooks and you can't see it because you think you have moral righteousness on your side.

You on the other hand would support Trump if he took a crap on your dining table.

Truly, you're delusional. I'll repeat it for you (again) because you obviously have problems with reading and comprehension: I DON'T CARE. I don't care about Trump, it doesn't affect me. I'm not a citizen of the United States, I didn't vote in that election - I didn't vote for Trump. I don't care! It seems that it doesn't matter how many times I repeat this I still get accused of being a Trump-lover.

I just don't hate the man like you people do, it lacks purpose and has no point.

How far up your rear your head has to be not to see that is full of hypocrisy.

Why is that your business? Why is the Trump administration your apparent number one concern? How does the Trump administration affect your everyday life so badly that you feel the need to come here and whinge about it with long tirades? And more importantly - what difference does your belly-aching make?

Yes Obama and Clinton would have done better. Definitely without a shadow of a doubt.

So you can see into alternative universes where alternative scenarios are being played out? Wow, you have super-human powers don't you.

But despite constantly being lied to be that git, that some of his supporters are seduced by racism and lies.

So you hate Trump supporters - there it is.

Call that shooting down an argument? You would be a crap lawyer that's for sure. Calling people pathetic sooks and you are sick of the constant belly aching reeks of spouting off because you has absolutely nothing positive to say about Trump. God, at least ANR says he likes to be entertained. Moral Rightousness on my side? As usual you are talking absolute bollocks.

Pull the other one Don. May I remind you what you said. The people of America should be proud in voting in Trump. Yeah that speaks of a man who really does not care.

just don't hate the man like you people do, it lacks purpose and has no point.

its a forum Don. Now you think that criticism of Trump should be shut down because YOU don't agree with it.

I don't just hate Trump, Don I wish you would get that through to your thick skull. Amongst the many vile things that he wants to do is to roll back Civil Rights Protections regarding Housing and Education. Things that the NAACP and marvellous wonderful people such as Martin Luther King, Rosa Parks, Harriet Tubman, Auntie Maxine Walters, Malcolm X and others who risked and in the case of Martin Luther King, lost their lives for. Is that a good enough reason as to why I cannot stand the git? I do not want black and brown people to be disadvantaged by this effing clown, got it? I do not care if it does not affect me personally. Its called empathy, try it.

Why is that your business? Why is the Trump administration your apparent number one concern? How does the Trump administration affect your everyday life so badly that you feel the need to come here and whinge about it with long tirades? And more importantly - what difference does your belly-aching make?

Why do you care that I cannot stand the man baby git? I have listed many reasons as to why I dislike him. He has turned a party of shared ideals into a party full of butt-munching sycophants and cronies.

So you can see into alternative universes where alternative scenarios are being played out? Wow, you have super-human powers don't you.

Either that is an attempt to be funny or killer statement. Pathetic springs to mind.

So you hate Trump supporters - there it is.

Yeah in your mind. I do not hate Trump supporters and my dislike of Trump is because of his actions.

This is an excerpt of what Trump has said.

Supposing we hit the body with a tremendous whether its Ultra Violet or very powerful light and I think you said that hasn't been checked but youre gonna test it and then I said supposing you brought the light inside the body which you can do either through the skin or in some other way and I think you said you were gonna test that too sounds interesting right and then I see the disinfectant where it knocks it out in a minute and is there a way we could do something like that by injection inside or almost a cleaning because you see it gets in the lungs and it does a tremendous number so i'd be interesting to check that so that you're gonna have to use medical doctors with but it sounds interesting to me.

Deferring to scientists, bull$hit. He is just throwing $hit out there and hoping that people will see him as someone who knows what the hell they are talking about, whereas sensible leaders would just let the experts work without interference and brief them. There is no way you would let that fly if it was another President.

I think we should start a push for Don as Prime Minister.

He knows all about leadership of a nation - he knows that Trump's terrific and that Clinton and Obama weren't.
From his writings here we can see that he knows everything about the economy, and all about universities too.
And, better still; he hates the Commos and is ready to tell the Chinese government to get stuffed.

He also has the priceless ability to completely ignore any question and, instead of answering, waffle off on a tangent about any irrelevancy that suits him.

All in all, he seems to be the ideal candidate except for one impediment - I don't think he knows much about cricket.

Stlll BS Don.He was making suggestions about something he knows little about. He suggested that disinfectant could be injected directly into the body and that researchers should spend time looking into to it as legimate research when it is common knowledge that disinfectant is poison.

The fact that he is even making that suggestion shows a complete lack of common sense. A sensible leader would not even be on the podium. Doctors would be. So from calling COVID 19 a hoax to now asking stupid questions he is just fishing to save his rear.

I'm not doing this to trigger people, I'm doing it to fight for logic and reason.

Trump makes the allegation that the media mis-quote and misrepresent him all the time and I think that 'disinfectant' thing is a textbook example. Maybe its because they know scandal about Trump is what the public like, dunno, but I think he's right that media do try and scrape things up about him that don't exist.

The impeachment scandal was a disgrace; didn't the Demmy-crats learn anything from the botched Starr report thing with Bill Clinton? The public were never behind the Pelosi push to get rid of him that way and frankly I think that backfired on them really badly; as I've said before people who voted for Trump on purpose must really resent these failed legal attacks on his Presidency - and why are they bothering anyway? Why not just put up someone the public can actually vote for instead of someone who was part of the atrophy the Demmy-crats had with their constituency with Sleepy Joe Biden?

There's only so much the President of the United States can actually do anyway as Obama found out when he was trying to implement some kind of national health coverage there - something they badly needed but he couldn't use his federal powers to get anything like the model that they should have had. It's just too complicated over there - 50 different states to negotiate with (as opposed to our 7). Their style of federation is very complicated and for better or for worse there's only so much that Trump will be able to do before he leaves office anyway.

And he has a strictly limited term of being in charge - so people who can't stand him can at least see the back of him at a guaranteed point in the future. Not so with China and Russia...

Like I've said before, he's so contrary on his own opinions that have been written taken down constantly, he's his own worst enemy. If he just shut his smeg mouth 50% of the time half these issues wouldnt appear, but he has to have the last and final say to stroke his EGO.
Since he fired the State Department inspector General and the Department of Transportation head in the middle of the night on a Friday, virtually for not being a yes men.

Unsuprisingly, the State Department position was filled by a close ally/friend of Vice President Pence.

Some of Linick’s recent investigations have been critical of the State Department’s management and caused consternation among Trump’s political appointees there. He has been perceived as a persistent thorn in the side of the administration under Pompeo.

Walter Shaub, who resigned as director of the U.S. Office of Government Ethics six months into Trump’s presidency after clashing with the new administration, said he has been alarmed by Trump’s efforts this spring to remove “anybody who could protest or expose or investigate his corruption.”

Watchdogs are meant to be impartial, so why the smeg is he stacking the deck then?

Quite so, but Trump hasn't discovered this yet. He still thinks he can run the Presidency as though it's Trump Towers. . . hire and fire and be answerable to nobody. He has a very practical approach; if an official doesn't agree or dares to be critical, just sack him. The latest example is the sacking of the State Department Inspector General because, "I have no confidence in him". Translation, "He dares to criticise me, and I am answerable to no Inspector".

Thank heaven we don't have the American system where the  big chief can sack public appointees at his own whim, otherwise we could see things like Morrison sacking the Auditor General if the mood took him.

It would do the USA a power of good if the Washington Post could do another Watergate. That finally showed Nixon that he was well out of bounds, and a similar check on Trump might just curb his excesses.

Where did he get that about the disinfectant? Surely not from any Medical Scientist. He reckons the disinfectant will get into the lungs and do a tremendous number. I don't reckon he briefed the scientists at all before this press conference.

And then when pressed about what he said he claims, "I was asking a question sarcastically to reporters like you just to see what would happen".  Deflect, deflect, deflect.

He has been inept about tackling this virus. For a start he would have made a Medical Doctor or a Scientist as the head of the taskforce and not Mike flaming Pence, although I do concede he has coped better than I thought he would.
