I have read on DISCOVER LIVE STEAM that the NEW WHEEL DIMENSIONS will be  7- 3/8 '' which will allow you to run on both

7-1/4'' & 7-1/2'' gauge tracks in the USA.

Won't the track standard have to change as well ? some tracks might work, after all the  compromise new standards may take time. and some clubs may have finer standards for their existing tracks.

interesting find.

Hi  sx69181,

I can't find my way around Discover Live Steam. Could I ask you to please post a link to the page with the new dimensions.

I have a few items of rolling stock with IBLS profile wheels (nominal 7 1/4" gauge). They run well on local tracks except if the gauge is wide they are the first to fall in. Also the shallow flanges don't always trip signal microswitches found on some tracks here.

That thing about 7 3/8” appeared on my Facebook page April 1. I think that’s about it.

I once thought they actually were trying to put floaties on trains to take them between the mainland and Tasmania until I read the date.
