What wil happen to the N-sets?

The source of electricity should make no difference to the aircons operation, whether it be from HEP, power van, or onboard AGS.
That assumes that those power sources are all equally capable of providing enough volts and amps at the correct frequency. Are they?

Im a bit bemused by the assumptions regarding head end power and need for power vans etc.  

Its not that hard to sort out reliability issues technically, its is however nearly impossible if the root cause is a dysfunctional orgnaisation. (rolling eyes)

If you're asking if the power sources currently in use are capable of providing the correct voltage etc to power the air conditioners, then the answer is obviously yes they are.

I must admit I still don't really understand what you're asking. All the power sources are fit for purpose and capable or they wouldn't be used however there are capacity and efficiency differences between them. A P's HEP for example was only capable of supplying power to 5 H cars so with the push-pulls each P would power 3 cars each, where as a power van or N HEP is capable of powering all 6 cars by itself. If you're after more technical details such as does a N class HEP produce a sine wave compared to square wave from an AGS i've absolutely no idea. All i know is when I press the supply on button the lights turn on and the aircon/heater start working.
