I'm sure most of you would have seen the photos of the quarter scale model of the SAR 900 class loco which was mounted on a float for the 1951 (or 1952) Xmas pageant. (It also sat plinthed for a while on the adelaide railway station north terrace enterance ramp roof). Am wondering a bit about its history and also if anyone knows what became of it? Thanks.
It was not in the Christmas pageant though but in a State pageant for some some celebration about that time. I think it was broken up though as it has never been seen since it was stored for a time I think but then when it was not wanted anymore it got broken up, it was all wood and possibly deteriorated badly in storage. But no one is really sure what became of it. It was half size the model so it was pretty big. Just imagine a 900 diesel half the size it was.
Here is a rather bad photo of it.
