Was on WIN News last night that SSR visited the railway and delivered 3 Y class locos to VGR, one appeared to be 157.  Some good news for them. Haven't seen this news anywhere else, so don't know if they were donated or on loan or purchased.

SSR/Bendigo Railway Workshops also chartered a VGR train for their staff over the weekend - Castlemaine to Maldon return with T386 & T385 running up front. It's been a little while since a T class ran under its own power on the VGR!

Stumbled across this thread while looking for another one, didn't see this post when it first came up,

Y157 has since been transferred to Maldon with the expectation that she will return to traffic on the VGR

AFAIK the others are simply being stored on behalf of their owner.

But this weeks big news which is sure to create a stir on RP especially amongst the Re-open Castlemaine > Maryborough contingent is this latest update on the VGR Civil blog https://vgrcivil.blog/

Noel And Friends over at the Rail Revival Alliance are already having a meltdown over that one!

The track is utterly stuffed.  It would need a total rebuild anyway to be useful, and VGR are flat out maintaining the Castlemaine-Maldon section.  In an ideal world with rivers of cash and many more volunteers - yes, it would be great to have tourist trains running on this line.
