Bombardier Transportation has been sold to Alstom.

Bombardier have performed a re-evaluation of the company and decided to just focus on private aviation (business jets), resulting in them selling their commercial aviation division (to Airbus) and now their rail division.

A sad occasion for Bombardier Transportation and their quality trams & trains.

Yes.

Their rail side has almost exclusively grown from acquiring other companies (e.g. Budd, AdTranz) and then continuing to make the existing product lines, so their acquisition by Alstom is a worthy continuance of that history.

It will be interesting to see which product segments see consolidation on the Alstom side and which see the Bombardier products continue.
