Starting with the ASIO raid against NSW Labor politicians Shaoquett Moselmane this morning: Lots of interesting things have been coming out about this - ABC news:
NSW Labor leader Jodi McKay confirmed she was aware of the raids, and that the party would suspend Mr Moselmane's membership. Ms McKay described reports that Mr Moselmane's office had allegedly been infiltrated by Chinese government agents as "dreadfully concerning".
"I was advised early this morning that there had been search warrants executed on the home of Mr Moselmane," she said.
Ms McKay said suspending Mr Moselmane's membership was "the right thing to do".
At least the Labor Party have acted swiftly this time. It's also interesting to note that the criticism of Moselmane was widely condemned as thinly veiled Islamophoiba prior to these raids - Australian Muslim Times:
The disgraceful treatment of the Honourable Shaoquett Moselmane MLC by the Murdoch media led by 2GB shock jocks must be condemned and his witch-hunt by pro-Israel lobbyists because of his proactive support for justice to Palestinians and South Lebanese against Israeli aggression is appalling. The weak-kneed response of this onslaught against a colleague by the NSW Labor leader Jodi McKay MP is highly disappointing and shown to be a leader incapable of standing up for her colleagues and for what’s right.
Seems like the shock jocks had it right this time?
