The premiere has recently stated she does not support inter-capital high speed rail but can see the value is speeding up the NSW network which is a good thing.

Victoria is offered money for the Geelong line fast rail and nothing happens.  NSW is going it alone with fast rail and will probably deliver a lot more before Victoria finally decides to do something with the Geelong Line.

Most interesting is the development of the southern lines which may assist the Sydney/Canberra services?

The whole idea of Geelong fast rail is farcical. If you're going to build fast rail, do it where some meaningful time will be saved, and that isn't Geelong.

Some common sense coming through, focusing on interurban and inner regional services that all trains use rather than worrying about competing with planes on just one corridor.

Each state starts out building their own discrete system for their own state's benefit, and in just a couple of decades the people will wonder why we can't have a national system.
