AMTRAK unveiled refreshed interiors and other onboard improvements it is carrying out as part of a three-year, $US 28m initiative to modernise more than 450 long-distance coaches during an event at Chicago Union Station this week.

Those seats look quite good very comfortable looking.

The dinning car upgrades look nice too.  I have used the car on the Spirit of Queensland and feel it could do with an upgrade and some more table space.

Be interesting to see what they get in the way of modernising 450 passenger cars for $US 28 million. That's around $US 66,000/car. We couldn't even clean the windows for that price! Rolling Eyes

Looking more at the interiors that have been showcased these new changes will drive business and leisure travellers to the network. It is the sort of approach needed for Sydney/Canberra and Adelaide/Port Augusta which is great for business travellers who can be on their way quickly and be able to work on the train.

V/Line has completely missed the boat on this also.
