Today was a scorcher.  A total fire ban was declared so therefor no steam locos could be run.  G520, Dutchess of Hamilton, BSR & Majory were all put into service.  AALS rules say that no people with open toe shoes can ride on an unprotected carriage.  We had to dig all the raised side carriages out of storage and off other rakes to make 520's rake open to all people.  Now the fun starts.  By 1300, G520 had overheated and had been put out in the sidings to cool down.  Another 2 locos went off for lunch.  1330, G520 was put back on the road due to popular demand, but was taken off next trip.  At 1400 we closed due to heat, low tempers and low pax.

We accctually had quite a busy day at DVR considering  the heat although some locs did struggle with the heat.

Wasn't just the heat, signal wise we had a few points playing up, one at Pine Creek that Sammy D had to kick repeatly for me on one occasion.

But yes, the head was bad.
