Something like the UK-based Realtime Trains http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk which presents real time movements at any defined location to anyone with a web connection. Works on desktops, mobiles and tablets including lineside subject to 3G service. Lets you know whether it's worth waiting and highlights unexpected or unusual workings and cancellations.
