ALSTOM has concluded the transfer of business activities related to Bombardier Transportation’s contribution to the V300 Zefiro very high-speed train to Hitachi Rail.
The transaction forms part of the commitments made by Alstom to the European Commission (EC) when it acquired Bombardier Transportation in 2020. Hitachi announced it would purchase the Zefiro platform in December 2021.
Alstom says it will continue to honour its obligations under the existing order from Trenitalia to ensure a seamless transition. Trenitalia awarded Hitachi Rail and Bombardier Transportation a contract to supply 23 Frecciarossa 1000 high-speed trains for the new Ilsa open-access service in Spain.
Alstom was also required to sell its Coradia Polyvalent platform, including its production site in Reichshoffen, France, and its Talent 3 platform. Both were purchased by Spanish rolling stock manufacturer CAF, with the EC approving the sale on June 4.
