As part of the modernisation of Melbourne's tram network, Yarra Trams and Public Transport Victoria are repairing tram tracks on Balaclava Road in Caulfield North.

The work will take place on Balaclava Road between Kooyong Road and Rosemont Avenue.

Yesterday's tram derailments in central Melbourne have prompted

claims from the tram drivers' union that it is only a matter of

time before there are serious injuries from what it says is an

unacceptable number of derailments.
