InnoTrans, the world’s leading trade fair for transport technology, has been postponed until September 2022.
Normally held every two years in September, InnoTrans was due to be held at the Berlin Messe (exhibition ground) in September 2020. It was first postponed until April 2021 but has now been cancelled altogether.
So, the next InnoTrans, the thirteenth, will now take place in Berlin from 20 to 23 September 2022, four years since the previous show.
Dr Christian Göke, chief executive officer of Messe Berlin, said: “The decision to postpone InnoTrans until 2022 was very difficult. Ultimately, the decisive factors were a lack of planning certainty and the forecast for the pandemic in the months to come.
“In the current situation, no one can predict with sufficient certainty whether the overall conditions will permit the use of our rail track display in April 2021 for example, and the holding of a leading international trade fair such as InnoTrans.”
The presentation of new trains on the three kilometres of rail track at the show is a major draw at InnoTrans.
