The 7.5km section will run between Barreiros Terminal and the Samaritá neighbourhood, with four stations.
The process was launched on November 24 by the São Paulo state secretary of metropolitan transport, Mr Alexandre Baldy, and state secretary of regional development, Mr Marco Vinholi.
The first 11.5km line between São Vicente and Porto Station opened in 2016. Work on the 8km stage 2 between Conselheiro Nébias avenue and Valongo Terminal began in August.
