One of the steam locomotives based at Carnforth will pass through Preston and Ribblehead this Tuesday, 10th August 2021.
The locomotive is on a special railtour this Tuesday, hauling The Pendle Dalesman from Lancaster to Carlisle.
The railtour departs Lancaster behind the steam locomotive at 08:09 and will then pass through Preston (08:41), Blackburn (09:12), Langho (09:28), Clitheroe (09:41), Hellifield (10:21), Settle Junction (11:06), Ribblehead (11:24), Appleby (12:00), Langwathby (12:15) and arriving into Carlisle at 12:52.
After around two and half hours in Carlisle, the steam locomotive will depart Carlisle at 15:24 bound for Lancaster. It will pass through Lazonby & Kirkoswald (15:48) and will stop for water at Appleby (16:08).
Continuing down the Settle and Carlisle line, the locomotive will pass over the Ribblehead Viaduct at approx 16:59, continuing to Settle, and through Settle Junction (17:18) where it heads for Hellifield, for a water stop, at 17:26. After the water stop, the locomotive will continue towards Lancaster, heading through Clitheroe (19:20), Blackburn (19:49), Preston (20:16) and Lancaster at 21:25.
