As part of the modernisation of Melbourne's tram network, Yarra Trams and Public Transport Victoria (PTV) are proposing to construct a new accessible tram stop on Wellington Parade between Powlett Street and Clarendon Street.
Wellington Parade is one of Melbourne's busiest tram corridors with trams reaching a four-minute frequency during peak periods.
The existing safety zones at Powlett Street and Clarendon Street experience heavy usage with over 3000 passengers boarding and alighting each weekday and are a vital transport link for passengers connecting from Jolimont Station to the eastern end of the CBD. They also act as an important commuter hub for thousands of passengers attending major events in the sporting and entertainment precinct. The upgraded level access platform stop will provide:
