Stored DFZ 2401 in the sidings at Forrestfield Works.
The 2400 class and sub batches (2450s, 2470s & 2500s) were built by Clyde Engineering at Eagle Farm (1,500hp, Co-Co, 1978-1983, 92tons, 100kmh) for Queensland Railways.
DFZ2402 was originally numbered 2451 and built 1979 (Works No. 79-916/ July 1979).
It was upgraded to a 2300 class about 20 years later (QR Standard Guage Modification of Class 1550 & 2400: 2,475hp, Co-Co, 1998-2002, 95tons, 100kmh). Renumbered to 2356.
On the privatisation and renaming to Aurizon, there was a need for Narrow Gauge locos in WA.
7 of these were modified again to DFZ class, given numbers 2401 to 2407 (just to confuse matters), and shipped over.
These have been in and out of store since Aurizon lost some local contracts (3 are currently stored in 2020). This one is currently active.
