C17 971 drags its train over the final uphill section past The Summit station on its way to Wallangarra on the Queensland/ New South Wales border.
As its name suggests, at a little over 3,000ft above sea level (3,035ft), The Summit is the highest railway station on the QR Network.
Opened in 1881 the station served as a loading point for freight trains carrying apples to the Golden Circle cannery in Birsbane until 2007.
