Gen sets 1202,1201 on hire to SCT from NREC are stabled in front of the Penfield Provisioning Centre at sunrise on 26-3-2017
Powered by 3x Cummins QSK19C gen sets, 5 units were built for El Zorro by NREC, National Rail Equipment Company in the USA but El Zorro had collapsed by the time the locos left for Australia.
Two were still shipped to Australia as Demonstrators, being offloaded the ship at Port Kembla in May 2013.
After trials in NSW they were transferred to SA for trials on 27-11-2014 but never eventuated until early 2017 when SCT trialled them for a couple of runs between Penfield and Outer Harbor and return.
During July 2017 the locos were sent eastward again and have seen a small amount of use around Southern NSW on grain trains.
